Members shall conduct themselves with integrity at all times, and with a spirit of fairness and justice to all parties.
Members shall refrain from improper solicitation.
No misrepresentation of any kind shall be made to anyone.
Commission rates shall be fair and equitable, and must comply with all state laws or regulations.
Members shall act in the best interests of their clients while at the same time conduct themselves with all parties so as to command respect and confidence.
Members shall work in harmony with all representatives of the insurance business, as well as the general public.
Members will only handle matters for which they have the appropriate knowledge and experience and will not attempt, under any circumstances, to handle any matter or claim for which they are not qualified or competent, or for which they cannot find competent technical assistance.
Members shall not engage in the unauthorized practice of law.
Members shall not acquire interest in salvaged property or participate in any way, directly or indirectly, in the reconstruction, repair or restoration of damaged property, except with the knowledge and consent of the insured, or as further restricted by applicable state law or regulation.
Members shall be cooperative and assist one another in every possible way.
Members shall not disseminate or use any form of agreement, advertising, or any printed or electronic material that is harmful to the profession of public adjusting, does not comply with applicable state law or regulation, or which may subject public adjusting and public adjusters to criticism or disrespect.
In order to maintain membership, and display the MAPIA logo, a member shall hold a license in good standing in at least one state, and shall notify MAPIA if such license is suspended or revoked.
A neat and professional appearance is recommended.
